Film
Thirty years ago, a low-budget British film exploded onto screens. Trainspotting was dirty, funny, heartbreaking and utterly original.
After the screening, award-winning actress Kerry Fox (Janet Frame in Jane Campion's An Angel at My Table) talks to Trainspotting producer Andrew Macdonald and costume designer Rachael Fleming about bringing Irvine Welsh's world to life and the film’s legacy for today’s filmmakers and audiences.
Andrew's other films include Shallow Grave, 28 Days Later with Danny Boyle and Ex Machina with Alex Garland. He is chair of the Edinburgh Film Festival and founder of DNA films.
Rachael's post-Trainspotting career has included measuring Colin Firth's inside leg for Bridget Jones' Diary to creating the trumpet herald's costume at the Barnsbury Book Festival.
Prepare for an exceptional commemoration of "Choose life", Ewan McGregor and Spud thirty years on - and some great behind-the-scenes gossip. Over 18s only. This is not about trains.
